Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) South Rift Region has named Peris Mbuthia as the new regional Chair, for a two-year term. This announcement makes her the first woman to Chair the South Rift Region.
Mr Mwangi Muchemi, Managing Director of Reliable Concrete Works Ltd, was appointed as the Regional Vice Chair for another term.
Ms Mbuthia has been a member of the KAM South Rift Committee representing members at Kenya Power and Nakuru Water and Sanitation joint committees respectively. She is a Human Resources/Corporate Affairs Manager at Bedi Investments. She also sits in the Nakuru County Environment Committee.
She will focus on engaging members and stakeholders, during her tenure, as the Region continues to advocate for an enabling business environment that promotes competitive industries. She is also keen on nurturing potential partnerships with Countries such as Ireland and Britain that have shown great interest in working with local industries. She notes that this will provide great visibility and promote Buy and Build Kenya products.
The incoming Vice Chair, Mr Mwangi Muchemi, will continue to serve in the Infrastructure Working Committee. The Committee engages all county agencies responsible for roads within the South Rift Region.
Peris takes on from Mr Jayen Dodhia whose three-year tenure focused on engagements with various stakeholders, all aimed at securing the interest of manufacturers. Mr Dodhia will continue to serve as an Ex-Officio of the committee, playing an advisory role in the region’s advocacy initiatives.
