Manufacturers have today been urged to take advantage of the regional and international markets to drive their growth. This was during the official launch of the Changamka Shopping Festival in Mombasa County.
Speaking during the launch, the Consul General of the Consulate of the Republic of Uganda, Amb. Paul Mukumbya, noted that this would go a long way in advancing their growth.
“The manufacturing sector plays a crucial role in driving the country’s economic growth. To enhance its impact and overall output, manufacturers need to take advantage of the regional and international markets.”
KAM Coast Region Chairman, Shafiq Makrani, recognized the role played by innovation in enhancing the quality of products, both for local and global consumption.
“Kenya is endowed with diverse resources including human capital, raw materials, renewable energy sources, among others, that have the potential to transform the country towards shared prosperity. Through innovation, local industry has continued to innovate every day, to provide Kenyans and the global market with high quality products. It has achieved this by integrating these resources in their day-to-day operations.”
The 4-day shopping festival, held in Mombasa for the 2nd year running, seeks to celebrate and create awareness on the diverse, high-quality and unique products that local industries produce. The festival shall also be held in Nairobi and Mombasa, later this year.
