Thursday, 1st December 2022, Kisumu: Manufacturers have been urged to invest in the counties. This was during the first-ever edition of the Changamka Shopping Festival in Kisumu County.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Farida Salim – CEC Trade, Tourism, Industrialization & Marketing, County Government of Kisumu, welcomed investors to Kisumu County, saying, “One of our goals is to promote Kisumu County as an investment hub and tourist destination. We welcome manufacturers to continue investing in the county.”
KAM Nyanza/Western Region Chair Emeritus, Israel Agina appreciated the opportunities for manufacturers across the country and urged both the national and county governments to drive the sector’s growth.
“Kenya is endowed with diverse resources including human capital, raw materials, renewable energy sources, among others, that have the potential to transform the country towards shared prosperity.”
Mr Agina also called on Kenyans to support the manufacturing sector, saying, “We are grateful for the support from the government and other stakeholders, in our quest to push the Buy Kenya Build Kenya agenda, to promote our competitiveness and productivity. Consuming our local products, as nation, instils in all of us a sense of ownership and pride in the making our economy.”
The 4-day shopping festival seeks to celebrate and create awareness on the diverse, high-quality and unique products that local industries produce. KAM has hosted the festival in Nairobi and Mombasa, which brought together over 150 exhibitors. The Nairobi and Kisumu editions have been sponsored by NCBA Bank.
