Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) has today met the new Environment Cabinet Secretary (CS), Mr. Keriako Tobiko to brief him on the existing partnership towards the management of PET bottles in Kenya.
This is geared towards the promotion of a clean, healthy and secure environment within the framework of Green Economy Strategy.
Speaking during the consultative session, the CS Mr, Keriako Tobiko noted that the Government is keen on partnering with industry in promoting sustainable business as the underlying foundation of the Government’s Big 4 Agenda.
“It is important that we engage in an immediate, concrete, creative and urgent manner in promoting a sustainable environment. We are ready to work with all stakeholders on developing an action plan aimed at promoting PET waste management across the country,” added CS Tobiko.
KAM Chairlady, Ms. Flora Mutahi noted that the Association is keen on a circular economy, as a key driver of global competitiveness and growth.
“Working in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, we endeavor to establish long-lasting solutions towards the protection and nurturing of our environment in an effort to secure the future of our country,” added Ms. Mutahi.
