Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) has today announced the launch of the biggest super sale for locally manufactured goods set to run from 3rd – 7th April 2019 at Kasarani Stadium.
The Super Sale dubbed Changamka Festival, will be a national event for all Kenyan citizens to shop, enjoy, learn and interact with businesses in all sectors of industry. Businesses in counties will also be present to showcase their creativity.
The aim of this event is to rally citizens to celebrate and take pride in products made locally. It also seeks to drive global competitiveness for manufactured goods and grow the sector in line with the Big 4 Agenda to be able to provide sustainable jobs and grow exports.
“If we are not competitive in our manufacturing agenda, the pillars of the Big 4 Agenda begin to crumble so we must address competitiveness to experience economic transformation. We are keen to boost value addition and enhance value chains in order to reap from our natural resources” said KAM Chairman, Mr. Sachen Gudka, during the launch.
Changamka Festival is also a learning opportunity for Kenyans to familiarize themselves with the new inventions in our sector.
Also present at the briefing was Brand Kenya Board Chairman, Mr Linus Gitahi, who reiterated the need to enhance the Kenyan Brand globally.
“Manufacturing is the answer and core for Kenya’s economic development. For the sector to thrive, it needs a conducive business environment that promotes its competitiveness and encourages investments”, added Mr Gitahi.
The manufacturing sector is key to Kenya’s economic growth due to its potential to grow productive jobs and increase the purchasing power of consumers. As an organization KAM acknowledges that to achieve this we need to showcase the quality and diversity of locally manufactured goods made for local, regional and International markets.
“We welcome all Kenyans to take pride in what is made in Kenya. We have developed a hub that is going to support MSME’s in manufacturing and it will be launched at the manufacturing summit and expo”, said KAM Chief Executive, Ms. Phyllis Wakiaga.
KAM has engaged all stakeholders to participate including the Office of the President, relevant ministries, State Departments and County leadership.
