KAM Machakos Chapter led by KAM CEO, Ms. Phyllis Wakiaga hosted the Machakos Gubernatorial Candidate Hon. Wavinya Ndeti as part of countywide engagements with political leaders aimed at enhancing economic dialogue in the counties to ensure business competitiveness.
The industrialists identified need for better and feasible county – business engagements; representation of industries in all major county committees of trade, environment, finance, infrastructure to be in a position to influence and inform county policy making process.
KAM Machakos Chairman, Mr. Mureithi Regeru emphasized the need for segmented public participation that will focus on various stakeholders in the county that will ensure enriched finance bill process. Other issues raised that seem to cripple business in the county are: poor infrastructure, need for expansion of sewer system to serve industries, distribution license to deliver and access markets within counties and need for fire station to serve and protect industries.
“The 10-point Manufacturing agenda that KAM launched focuses on ensuring competitiveness is emphasized in political manifestos. It highlights factors such as land ownership, sustainable energy, access to long term finance, export push for manufactured products among others as pillars to create 300,000 jobs and to double manufacturing investment in the country,” noted Ms. Phyllis Wakiaga.
