Industrial Area: Denmark-Kenya Strategic Sector Cooperation Project Workshop Held
The Denmark-Kenya partnership on strategic environmental sector cooperation team held a two-day retreat in Naivasha on 27th and 28th September. The workshop took stock of the milestones realized since the project was approved in September 2016.
The Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) project is spearheaded by representatives from DANIDA, The Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives, the National Treasury, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), the County Government of Nairobi, KAM and other private sector players, academia and research organizations.
The partnership is aimed at accelerating Kenya’s transition towards a circular economy, with a focus on industrial production and the waste sector/resource efficiency. It involves implantation of circular economy approaches to policy development; enhance industry regulation and authority to industry collaboration.
Mr. Jacob Fink Ferdinand, the Green Growth counselor at the Danish Embassy in Nairobi thanked all partners for their continued support ever since the project was incepted. He challenged sector players to embrace technology and innovation in their operations.
Mr. Augustine Kenduiwo, the Climate Change Deputy Director in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry urged all partners to support the project as it was a sure way of safeguarding the future.
KAM Energy Expert, Mr Sylvester Makaka urged government to consult all stakeholders when formulating policies that might affect their operations
