20/9/2023: Uasin Gishu County Governor, HE Jonathan Bii, hosted KAM North Rift members for a consultative forum on creating a conducive business environment for economic growth. He was accompanied by the Deputy Governor, HE Eng John Barorot, CECM for Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives, and Enterprise Development, Ms. Martha Cheruto, and the CECM for Roads and Public Works, Eng Joseph Lagat, among other senior County officials.
In his remarks, Governor Bii committed to ensuring a favorable business environment for manufacturing to thrive. He encouraged manufacturers to seize the opportunities presented by the upcoming County Aggregation and Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones.
The County is in discussions with the Ministry of Roads and Transport to expand infrastructure, optimizing the utilization of Eldoret International Airport. The Governor acknowledged the critical role played by manufacturers, emphasizing the need for their inclusion in key County Committees and Boards.
In his remarks, the North Rift regional Chairman, Mr William Ong’are, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with the County Government. He highlighted the need for further collaboration and information sharing regarding the upcoming Aggregation and Industrial parks for investor participation.
KAM is eager to partner with the County on Agriculture for Industry and contribute to the development of the County Investment Handbook. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for individual sectors to address sector-specific issues.
