Kenya Plastic Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) Launch

KAM launched the Strategic Business Plan for the establishment of a Plastic Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) in Kenya. The PRO will drive collective Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in the country, whereby a producer’s responsibility for a product is extended to the post-consumer stage of a product’s life cycle, whilst turning plastic waste into valuable resources. It sets out the direction of KAM’s priorities in the waste value chain and key action in effecting the steps towards a clean Kenya as industry moves from a linear to a circular economy.

Inclusive Manufacturing Kick Off

KAM in partnership with GIZ and East African Women in Business Platform (EAWiBP) kicked off the Inclusive Manufacturing Programme. The Programme to equip participants with strong business skills. It targets enterprises owned by women and persons with disabilities in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. Participating companies and businesses shall be enlightened on approaches that aim to promote inclusivity and diversity in manufacturing. It shall entail business diagnostics to establish the challenges facing business owned by women and persons with disabilities and how to remedy them. It shall also incorporate mentorship and coaching by experts to empower women and persons with disabilities to play an active role in industry, for the region’s economic growth.

Waste Management Launch – Kiambu

KAM in partnership with County Government of Kiambu and Taka ni Mali launched a Responsible Waste Management initiative in Thika, Kiambu County. Through the initiative, the Assocation shall raise awareness on responsible waste management through segregation. During the launch, KAM and Taka ni Mali donated bins to the Count Government of Kiambu.
