KAM, AOTS partner to accelerate Kenya’s digital transformation  

Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) has partnered with Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) to drive automation and digital transformation of Kenya’s manufacturing sector.  

Through the partnership, KAM and AOTS shall enhance business ties between KAM Members and Japanese companies and encourage the uptake of the Kaizen culture and shift towards lean automation, using tools such as the Internet of Things (IOTs) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). 

The partnership was recognized during the Japan-Africa Public-Private Economic Forum (JAfEF). The forum sought to discuss: 

  • Cooperation between Japan and African public and private sectors in order to share concrete results 
  • Future plans between both parties 
  • Experiences amidst COVID-19 with the aim of presenting a policy direction for Tokyo International Conference of African Development (TICAD) 

KAM, KFS to rehabilitate 10,000 ha of degraded forests  

Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) has today entered into a partnership with Kenya Forest Service (KFS) to rehabilitate 10,000 hectares of degraded forest areas across the country.  

The Framework of Cooperation (FOC) is part of efforts towards accelerating the achievement of the 10% national tree cover goal by 2022. 

Under the FoC, KAM and KFS shall support Community Forest Associations countrywide, as well as the refurbishment of tree nurseries, seedlings production, tree growing, and other activities aimed at increasing forest cover.   

The FoC is part of the Association’s #uKAMilifu initiative, under the Green World pillar, whereby we seek to restore and replenish the environment in our approach.  

KAM hosts Credit Guarantee Scheme Webinar 

KAM hosted a webinar on the Government-backed Credit Guarantee Scheme. The webinar sought to enable Manufacturing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to understand how to access financing under the scheme.

KAM hosts Menstrual Hygiene Management Exchange Visit 

KAM’s Women in Manufacturing Programme hosted an exchange visit at Thika Cloth Mills. The visit focused on the importance of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) health  in creating a safe workplace for women. 

KAM meets KURA 

KAM met Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Director General, Eng. Silas Kinoti, on road infrastructure issues and areas of collaboration. 

KAM and KURA agreed to conduct a joint regional forum to address regional road infrastructure issues.  

TVET Programme 

KAM’s TVET Programme held 3 industry-matching bazaars (Nairobi, Eldoret and Nyamira). The forums sought to link trainess for work-based learning in industries. 

The Programme also hosted 3 work-readiness trainings in Nairobi, Eldoret, Nyamira and Mombasa. The trainings aimed to equip students with soft skills for industries.
