Kenya Railways engages industry on freight charges

KAM CEO Ms Phyllis Wakiaga and Kenya Railways MD Atanas Maina on 14th February 2018 met with various stakeholders to address queries in regard to the SGR and the Madaraka Freight Services.

The meeting, conveyed by KAM Industrial Area Chapter, sought to provide a platform for representatives from various government agencies including KRA and Kenya Railways to respond to issues that have been disrupting the movement of cargo.

Speaking at the event, Kenya Railways Managing Director, Mr. Atanas Maina highlighted the importance of constant dialogue between manufactures and the Kenya railways to ensure that the sector thrives having been mentioned as a major agenda in the Presidents Big four.

Ms Wakiaga reiterated the need for dialogue, adding that it was the foundation that would ensure the sector maximizes on the use of SGR

“We are glad that our priority as manufacturing has been picked up by the President in the Big Four Agenda. Addressing different issues affecting manufacturing ensures the sector remains competitive. We need to have constant dialogue, to ensure that the SGR has a clear business model and creates a win win partnership” Ms Wakiaga said.
