KAM Secretariat visit Arise and Shine Children’s Home and Kabete Children’s Remand Center

Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Secretariat visited and donated various foodstuffs and clothes to Arise and Shine
Children’s Home in Dandora and Kabete Children’s Remand Center in Kabete, Nairobi.

The Arise and Shine Children’s Home is host to over 30 children from around the Dandora Dumpsite. Hosted in a small space on the side of the Nairobi River, the Home provides shelter to abandoned children from the slum area. It hopes to open more space for new children.

With only two members of staff and one volunteer, the Home depends solely on donations and well wishers.

Established under the Department of Children Services, the Kabete Children’s Remand Center is home to 50-70 children.

The children aged between 7-18 years, are held in the home to safeguard and protect their rights and welfare as children from sexual abuse, physical assault, neglect, homelessness, crime and drug abuse. The staff consist mostly of social workers, who insist that these children are in need of mentorship, counselling and morale support.
