Manufacturers from Kenya have called for export-led manufacturing growth to increase the sector’s contribution to the GDP from the current 7.8% to 20% by 2030. This was during the Trade and Investment Mission to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) hosted by Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) in partnership with Equity Bank, in Kinshasa to discuss trade promotion between the two countries.
Manufacturers have today called on the government to strengthen the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) ecosystem in Kenya. This was during the first ever Manufacturing SMEs Convention, hosted by Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM).
Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) is concerned by the gazettement and implementation of Legal Notice No. 30 of 2023 titled: The Excise Duty (Excise Goods Management System) (Amendment) regulations 2023 that effectively; increases the rates of excise stamp fees for bottled water, juices and any other non-alcoholic drinks, cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and nicotine products and export products.
Manufacturers have today called on the government to revive and industrialize Kenya’s agriculture sector. This was during the launch of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Manufacturing Priority Agenda (MPA) 2023.
